Most free watermark removers ask you to upload. That means your picture sits on a stranger's server, and you are trusting a privacy policy about what happens next. This one does the work inside the page, on your own machine — which is both more private and, for a single image, usually faster.

The steps

  1. Open the watermark remover.
  2. Drop in your JPG, PNG or WebP.
  3. Let automatic detection find the mark, or draw around it yourself.
  4. Check the result at normal viewing size, not zoomed to 400%.
  5. Download as PNG if you are going to keep editing; JPG or WebP if it is going straight onto a web page.

When it works almost perfectly

Where the background around the mark implies exactly one answer, the reconstruction is effectively the original: clear sky, a plain wall, blurred bokeh, a smooth gradient, water, sand. A corner logo over any of those disappears without a trace.

When it will not

  • Across a face. Nobody can infer the shape of a covered eye from the cheek beside it, and people spot wrongness in faces instantly.
  • Over text. You get texture that looks like writing without being any word.
  • Tiled across the whole image. Stock previews are designed this way on purpose — there is no clean region left to rebuild from.
  • Heavily compressed sources. You are fighting the mark and its compression halo at once.

Getting a better result

Start from the least compressed file you have. Select two or three pixels beyond the visible edge of the mark, because watermarks have soft edges and a tight selection leaves a faint outline. Work in several small patches rather than one big one. Do not scale the image down first. Full list in seven things that improve results.

Removing a watermark from your own image is fine. Removing one from someone else's is copyright infringement, and stripping rights-management information is separately prohibited in several jurisdictions. The tool cannot tell the difference — it runs on your device and we never see your files — so that judgement is yours. More on where the line is.
